SO.
I have been bugged about when I'm going to hit the blog again.. SO I figured a Christmas eve post would cheer everyone up.. I hope.
I haven't really had anything to say lately. Well, that's a lie. I have had TOO much to say. I didn't want to post 5 blogs in one day, or just overload with one blog, and have you click that tiny little "x" in the top right corner of your screen.
Last Christmas, I changed my status on FB to something along the lines of atheism, and them changing Christmas.
I thought alot about it, and decided to clear the waters.
Whether you are christian, muslim, agnostic, or atheist, STOP trying to change Christmas. If you are a non-muslim, are you going to take it upon yourself to change their holidays and traditions? Probably not.
I am tired of hearing things about kids getting sent to detention for saying Merry Christmas. (It's a true story, not just that comic that floated around FB for a while).
Department stores aren't allowed to play Christmas songs with the words God, Christ, Lord, or any religious specific influences or songs about Christ being a part of Christmas.
I'm sorry if what I am about to say offends you. It's not meant to.
Christmas (whether you celebrate it for this reason or not) is a religious specific holiday.
I recognize that majority of people do not celebrate it for that reason. Please note, that Christmas wouldn't exsist, if it wasn't on the belief of Christ's birth. NOW. I didn't say that you can only celebrate Christmas, if you are a Christian. I'm saying, that it exsists because of a certain religious belief. YES, Christmas is about family, getting together, enjoying eggnogg, whiskey, wine and presents. YES it is about blessing the not so fortunate, and YES it is a personal choice on WHY you celebrate Christmas.
I don't understand how and WHY the world is so uncomfortable to recognize that. Not in the sense that everyone needs to start going to church and really appreciating the presipice (sp?) of why this holiday exsists, but in the sense that what's the need to change it?
Do people not realize that it takes MORE effort to make sure all of the department stores, advertising, and radio stations are following the "NO Christmas or God thing" than it does for you to turn off the tv, change the radio station, or even just NOT be so offended?
Now, at least half of "canadians" are not technically Canadian. Yes, to put it rudly, I will say immigrants.. I'm not going to move to Haiti, the Phillipines or even Asia and try and change all of their traditions. If I move to Asia, I assume the responsibilty to RESPECT their traditions.
The canadian anthem is barely recognized in schools now a days, because there are too many people that "this isn't their country, so lets make them feel welcome."
BS. BS. BS. (please note, I do have tons of friends that live in canada, and are not canadian, this is not an attack. just food for thought)
If I'm uncomfortable with people speaking french (which I am not), I will not move to france, montreal or any other french speaking community, in hopes of taking that away from them.

Diversity in this country is not only encouraged, but welcomed. It's a healthy thing for ALL of us to experience. It truly is.
I can't really articulate what's going on in my head. This is partially why I have avoided blogging.
PLEASE please please don't take offense to anything that I have said. It wasn't meant to come accross that way.
I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas. No matter what the reason may be for celebrating it.
